When Our Mind Gets A Bit Of Information It Runs with it.
Yesterday I met a colleague and friend at the kumho plaza, now called the M plaza, for a coffee and to discuss some business about an up coming workshop we are creating...
The previous week we also met at Starbucks for discussion on the same topic...
We arranged the meeting via text and I arrived on time waiting for him..
5 minutes go bye and I don't see him which is unusual because he is always on time...
I get an idea to check my phone incase he sent a message...
OMG...
The original message says COFFEE BEAN...I'm sitting in Starbucks...
I quickly jump UP, put my jacket ON, grab my bag and move my ASS to the coffee bean...
Understand this...
Active Listening is a topic we covered a few days ago at our communications workshop...
We speak at 120 words a minute and our mind moves at 500 words a minute...
That's why it's so hard to practice active listening because our mind moves so fast and makes conclusions before the speaker has finished talking...
In my experience at the coffee shop my mind moved very fast as my eyes read the message and my mind concluded we would meet at the same coffee shop as before and my eyes didn't allow me to register the change of venue...
Our Mind move so quick and makes conclusions before we have all the facts...
Has this ever happened to you?
