Happiness According To Who?

I just finished 20 days of training in Bangkok, Thailand, and half way through the training we had a day off for study…

I decided to take a couple of hours off to watch some sport at the local sports bar on Sukhumvit 11…

I arrived and sat myself down at the bar with the big wide TV screen at the other side of the bar in perfect view…

After my first drink, I could not believe what I was looking at, at the other end of the bar…

I quickly looked around to make sure it was a legitimate bar, yes it was…

What I was looking at, to my great surprise, was a man with a banana in his ear, yes that’s right, a banana in his ear..

I couldn’t believe what I was looking at…

I wanted to go and tell him, to see if I could help…

Then I heard a voice in my head say, “Paul, you came here to watch the sport, Mind your own business, don’t get involved, and watch the sport”…

I ordered another drink and continued to watch the sport…

20 minutes later I look up again and saw the man with the banana still in his ear…

I’m 3 drinks down and feeling very confident, so I quickly slide off my stool to help the man with the banana in his ear…

I tap him on the shoulder and say, sir, sir…do you realise that you have a banana in your ear?

He looks at me as if he didn’t hear me and says, what?

Sir, you have a banana in your ear?

Hey, what did you say?…

Now I’m shouting, sir, do you realise you have a banana in your ear?…

He looks at me square in the eyes and says…

You will have to speak up, I’ve got a banana in my ear…

Understand this…

Sometimes we can make our lives very difficult trying to make other people happy, according to our own rules…
